The American Democracy Institute (ADI) is seeking a Partnership and Development Manager.
About ADI:
ADI, a non-partisan, not-for-profit leadership development organization, brings together highly accomplished and socially committed individuals from a variety of sectors and helps them share their skills, talents, and experiences with one another and with the next generation of leaders.
Since its founding in 2005, ADI has orchestrated a wide variety of events and programs to educate and empower high-impact leaders. This important work has included inspiring over 10,000 young citizens through Empower Change Summits in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Los Angeles; educating a national network of over 500 emerging leaders from every sector of society through regional Leadership Forums in New York, in Washington, D.C., and at Google; and managing the Obama Administration's Presidential Appointee Leadership Program.
Position Description:
The Partnership Manager will lead and grow a comprehensive development program that will support the operational and funding needs of ADI. Working closely with the President, Board of Directors, and Director of Programs, the Partnership Manager's responsibilities will include major gift cultivation, corporate solicitation, constituent management, strategic partnership development, and additional special projects.
The Partnership Manager will be responsible for writing grants, proposals, and all development-related correspondence for ADI. The Partnership Manager will be responsible for the strategic advancement of ADI's development efforts, initiating and maintaining key donor relationships, and overseeing long-range strategic fundraising initiatives.
Position Requires:
• Bachelors degree, graduate degree preferred
• Two years of experience in development, fundraising, partnerships, outreach or marketing
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Familiarity with constituent management processes
• Strong team player comfortable in a highly collaborative environment
• Strategic thinker capable of creating solutions and anticipating outcomes
• Proven ability to build and steward relationships
• Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills
• Ability to manage many projects simultaneously
• Commitment to ADI mission and values
• Strong command of MS Office Suite
Salary commensurate with experience. Position will be 30 hours a week with full benefits. ADI offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and generous paid time off.

Position: Women's Program Associate
Reports to: Director of Programs
Location: Washington, DC
The American Democracy Institute (ADI) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization. ADI is seeking a full-time Program Associate to manage its premier Pathways to Power: Women's Leadership Program designed to empower a cohort of women to ascend to the highest levels of public leadership. This program was recently launched at a conference on December 1, 2009 that was attended by over 250 emerging women leaders and featured a conversation with former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Position Description
The Program Associate will work closely with the Director of Programs to manage a comprehensive program for emerging and current women leaders, including helping to plan events and programs, including an annual national conference, as well as coordinating the year-long curriculum for Fellows and other program participants. Job responsibilities will include the cultivation of external relationships and contacts, maintaining existing relationships, program design and curriculum, and other responsibilities as needed. For this role, ADI is seeking a talented and hard working individual with excellent communication and organizational skills who is able to commit to the program through 2010.
Responsibilities
Implement the Pathways to Power: Women’s Leadership Program
• Help lead the growth of a year-long leadership development program
• Implement strategies to meet program development goals, updating plan as needed
• Develop, track and report progress to the Director of Programs and other stakeholders
• Coordinate action items with Director of Programs to achieve goals
Develop and cultivate relationships
• Develop and manage relationships with current and future women leaders involved in the program
• Ensure the program meets the needs of each participant involved
Work with Development & Partnerships team to sustain the program
• Assess opportunities for donor cultivation events
• Create and implement events, with staff support, as appropriate
Deliver, Evaluate and Improve the Curriculum
• Write training materials for Women’s Leadership Fellows and Mentors
• Draft questions for panel moderators at events and other programs
• Formulate outcomes metrics and evaluation tools to be completed by all program participants
Internal and External Communications
• Prepare communications to program participants, speakers, and facilitators
• Develop, track and report progress to the Director of Programs and CEO
• Draft memos and emails as necessary
• Represent ADI externally as needed
Organizational responsibilities
• Provide key contributions to overall strategy, priorities and management of the program
• Work collaboratively with other ADI staff members whose job responsibilities may benefit the program (leadership, communications, research, administration, other)
• Manage programs timeline and ensure ADI staff adheres to all related deadlines
Ideal Candidates Would be/have:
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
• Ability to lead multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines
• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively
• Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills
• Ability to work well in a team-based environment
• Interest in expanding their skills in organizational management and operations
• Self-motivated and hard working
