Hi everyone, I'm Joey Cheek and I'm co-founder and president of Team Darfur.
I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the event two weeks ago in New York, and now I'm using this platform to hopefully continue the many conversations we started then.
First, though, I'd like to ask for your help. Team Darfur is a very young organization with a very big mission: to empower Olympic athletes to make a difference in Darfur. We can't do that without a lot of help.
Among the things we're looking for:
1. Legal advisor - with knowledge of non-profit issues
2. Treasurer of the board - advise on general financial issues, co-sign checks
3. Policy advisor - with experience in coordinating needs of various organizations and interests
4. Merchandise help - designers, connections to appropriate companies, experienced marketing professionals

As we design future Leadership Programs, we want to learn a bit more information about how you are using new media and participating in American democracy. This data will help us design better programs, especially as we work with foundations and other outside organizations.
Finally, thank you all once again for filling out our program evaluation during the Leadership Forum. We got some fantastic feedback and are already using it to shape our upcoming event in California.

We are pleased to announce that David Wilhelm will be one of our featured speakers for the New York Leadership Forum. Mr. Wilhelm has a background in politics and business. He served as the former Chair of the DNC from 1993-1994, and is the youngest person to head a national party. Currently, Mr. Wilhelm is the founder and president of Woodland Venture Management that focuses on investments in rural areas throughout the central United States.

Welcome to our New York Leadership Forum group! As we prepare for the forum, I'll be posting regular updates and this will be a great place for you to learn more about the event on the 29th. However, the real power of this platform are in the connections that you form with one another.
